Working on her father’s vineyard allows Sarah Lanning to bury memories of a lost love and a career that might have been. But then her fractured family receives word that her estranged sister, Jenna, is dead, leaving behind an unexpected request: that Sarah travel to Bolivia to scatter her ashes.
Accompanied by pilot Chase Maddox, Sarah embarks on an Andean journey that tests her devotion to home and exposes Jenna’s secret life. Each staggering discovery creates new mysteries—until the last, which leaves Sarah questioning everything she understood about family loyalty. At a crossroads, she must decide whether truth is worth the cost of forgiveness—and whether she can lay claim to a future of happiness without it.

I've been around Christian publishing since 1987 when I helped our ministry self-publish an important resource for Vietnam veterans and their families. That book went on to be picked up by a royalty publisher and has since sold over 250,000 copies with a million in print.

Beautiful Character Development! Wonderfully written. Can’t wait for more books from Katherine.
Emma Cunningham –
Having previously read Katherine Scott Jones’ previous book, Her Memory of Music, I was excited to start a new adventure with her well-thought out and developed characters in Shadow Sister. The heart wrenching prologue beckoned me to read on and discover answers to growing mystery. Not only did Jones write with beautiful, captivating prose, but she excellently and strategically intertwined one (of many) major “question marks” throughout the entirety of the story that kept me reading! I especially loved the ending, which I felt brought the entire book together wonderfully.

Katherine’s writing is extraordinary, and this novel is no exception in expressing her talent of placing the reader into the heart of people, places, and events. Whether there’s a commuter bus driven off a cliff in mountainous Bolivia or a sister’s pain and inquiry into a secret box in Washington state, there is an unusual juxtaposition of scenery and life’s work between family. The main draw is the unfinished business between siblings. Although a little hard at first to connect the characters, the purposeful interweaving of them throughout the chapters brings them all together with great imagination and curiosity for the reader to know the “rest of the story.” There is suspense, tragedy, misunderstandings, redemption, and ultimate love in these pages. You can’t put Shadow Sister down!
