About Redemption Press

Our Story of Redemption

Founded in the fervor of faith and a history steeped in publishing, Redemption Press stands as a testament to the power of reclaimed purpose. In 1987, Athena Dean Holtz initiated her foray into Christian publishing, helping to self-publish a vital resource for Vietnam veterans that ultimately witnessed remarkable success being picked up by a royalty publisher and selling over 250,000 copies.

Redeemed means to be “bought back”, and Redemption Press most certainly fits in that category, as it was redeemed out of the ashes of the highly successful WinePress Publishing—a pioneer in setting industry standards for independent Christian publishing for decades before it fell into the wrong hands and died.

In 2014, rising from the ashes emerged Redemption Press. Propelled by profound faith and driven by the urgent needs of authors abandoned by failed publishing companies, Redemption Press was established with a vision that went beyond mere profit. Readied with borrowed equipment, a foundation of trust in God's provision, and a heart to serve, Athena began writing a new chapter in publishing history.

Now, a decade later, Redemption Press presents a line of the finest Christian publishing services, recognition from prominent associations, and an extended family of authors whose voices resound with authenticity and insight.

The pandemic-induced interruption of in-person writer’s conferences led to the inception of She Writes for Him Virtual conferences, a beacon in the fog for writers seeking guidance and community, further diversifying the avenues through which Redemption Press empowers storytellers.

Redemption Press is making waves in the Christian publishing world with their authors and editors earning nationally recognized awards in various genres. Additionally, Redemption Press has been recognized as a Best Christian Workplace by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute three years in a row (2021-2023), showcasing their commitment to excellence and a positive work environment.

More about Redemption Press

Our Mission

"Your Message. Our Mission."

At Redemption Press, we intertwine our passion for storytelling with an unwavering commitment to our authors. We recognize the pivotal role of the message each author brings to the table, treating it with the deference and attention it deserves.

Our Business Model

Excellence is at the heartbeat of our approach.

Redemption Press operates on a business model inspired by traditional publishing’s best practices, with a twist that speaks proudly of our independence. Project management isn't just an operational strategy; it's a pledge to our authors that their vision will be brought to life without sacrificing their creative autonomy or relinquishing their rights. We stand as facilitators of dreams, caretakers of quality, and advocates for Christian messages that yearn to be shared.

Our Heartbeat

At Redemption Press, we are driven by a calling to steward not only the messages entrusted to us by our authors but also the transformative power many of these stories carry. Our heartbeat echoes with the desire to see hearts touched and lives changed.

In every manuscript we receive, every story we help shape, and every book we publish, we see an opportunity to impact and expand the Kingdom of God. This isn't just about publishing books; it's about amplifying voices that speak life, hope, and truth.

Redemption Press is more than a publisher; we are a family united by a common goal: to see the message that God has entrusted to us and our authors flourish and reach beyond what we can ask or think (re: Ephesians 3:20). Our heartbeat is to see lives impacted, and the Kingdom of God expanded by harnessing the profound impact of the written word.

Join us in our mission to spread messages of faith, redemption, and hope. Your story matters. Let's share it with the world!

Looking Toward the Future

Redemption Press continues to evolve, fueled by the spirit of shared ownership and a love for serving our community. Joining forces with Founder & Owners, Athena and Dr. Ross Holtz, Kelley and Carol Tetzlaff, and Shelly Brown have woven their futures into the tapestry of Redemption Press, committed to the company's resilience and growth.

We honor our past as we confidently stride into the future, intent on nurturing our unique position within the world Christian publishing and author training. At Redemption Press, we celebrate the stories of yesterday and foster the narratives of tomorrow.

“Because of actions meant for evil, I was forced to redo my book, but the cover and contents are infinitely better than before. A sticker on the new cover proclaims: “revised and expanded.” The same could be embossed on my life right now. God is doing a new thing and Redemption Press has been His agent this time. This remarkable company holds a very special place in my heart.” Linda Grabeman, Author of “No Prissy Shoes”

“It is very evident that Redemption Press is FOR THE AUTHOR and not for themselves. As an author working with them to get my book repackaged and republished, this is something I noticed in my dealings with them and I appreciate it very much.” Ron Woodworth, Award-winning author of “For Such A Time As This” in the theology category

“Very speedy service! The finished product is so professionally done; I am delighted to have it as a ministry tool … the Kingdom of God has been greatly advanced because of (Redemption Press’) obedience. Surely “others will need the road” and many are already using it!” Donald Henderson, Author of “God Signs: The Bible In A Nutshell”
