BART D. BROWN was born in Pershing, Iowa in 1928. The inventor, prospector, and avid hunter grew up in Wyoming and later joined the Navy. Bart returned to the coal mines of Wyoming where he worked as the electrical superintendent at the largest trona mine in the state, and he invented a limit switch to protect coal miners from dangerous explosions. Later in life, Bart owned and operated his own coal mine. As he told his daughter Lynne often, he flunked retirement! Instead, he bought an RV park in Colorado and enjoyed life outdoors until moving closer to family years later. Bart loved life, the 4th of July, dancing, animals, and, most of all, children. He also enjoyed writing stories from his mind and heart, including a tale about a donkey named Useless. Bart's life was full with three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He often said, It's a big, beautiful world out there. Go and get it. Bart D. Brown passed away on November 30, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.
