“I really enjoyed this little devotional book. . . .The spiritual lesson is valuable to the believer’s walk with Christ.”
~Susan Snodgrass, Christian book reviewer
God is in the details and can be found in even the smallest elements in nature. Just imagine. A flower as intricate as a marigold or a lake reflection of guardian trees—both as mysterious as their Creator. Yet God cares deeply for you, the only creation made in his image.
In this world of shifting sand, we need something beautiful to ground us in the present, and author Tracy L. Smoak brings tranquility with her pictorial devotional Living Water.
If you love nature, this book will refresh your soul. With thirty photographs of inspiring water scenes in Lake County, Florida, you’ll revel at the beauty of God’s design. The affirming Bible verses, prayers, and faith steps will calm and comfort you.
“Tracy L. Smoak, a talented wordsmith and photographer, created a refreshing devotional for those seeking a respite from the noise and chaos of this world. Her original pictures capture the beauty of God’s creations and bring joy to the weary soul.”
~Robin Revis Pyke, author of Your Identity in Christ: Who You Are and Whose You Are
Virginia Schoenthaler –
This is a beautiful book. Smoak’s photographs are a wonderful canvas for scripture, daily prayer, and “Faith Steps.” Each entry provides a refreshing glimpse into the wonder of God’s creation.

I really enjoyed this little devotion book. Each devotion consists of a verse or two of scripture, a precious and most appropriate prayer and a Faith Step.
This last one is a great way to keep the devotion fresh in your mind and help you accomplish the goal of the devotion. Then there is a beautiful photo that pertains to the devotion in some way.
This is not a deep and long devotion. Let me take back that ‘deep’ part. One sentence, one word of Scripture, can be deep spiritually. God can move mightily in just one word. This is not a long devotional. It can easily be done in a minute or two, not counting the time you will want to take to ponder it. And it is a good thing to ponder on this throughout the day. The spiritual lesson is a great one, too, and very valuable to the believer’s walk with Christ.
My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The opinion here is entirely my own.

Living Water To Refresh Your Soul by Tracy Smoak is a simply beautiful book containing thirty devotionals that will help you in your faith walk.
Jesus is THE living water. Just as we need water to hydrate our physical bodies, we need Jesus’ words to hydrate our souls.
The devotional has thirty photographs taken in Florida. Each is serenely beautiful. The photos alone spoke to my soul.
Each of the thirty devotionals open with a photo and a description underneath. A Bible verse follows and then a prayer and a faith step. The faith step poses a question or a suggestion. It requires action on our part as we respond. As we move into action with our response, we will be drawing closer to God. As we draw closer to Him, so He moves towards us.
The whole book has been beautifully thought out and compiled by Tracy Smoak. The words feel like they come straight from the heart of God to our hearts and souls.
Living Water To Refresh Your Soul is serenely beautiful. Buy a copy today and let the words sink into your soul.

Smoak has combined her love of photography with Scripture and encouraging words to create an inspiring devotional. We readers are taken through Lake County, Florida, with beautiful water scenes on a journey from the southern Green Swamp toward Lake Griffin in the north. Smoak gives interesting information about the physical features in each photo. Encouraging Bible verses are included, as well as reflective prayers and practical faith steps. The entries combine to form thirty faith steps encouraging us to a deeper walk with God.
I liked this inspirational photographic journey through central Florida. I’ve not been to this area and I really appreciated the photos and informative descriptions of its features. The best aspect of this book, however, is the inspiration and encouraging faith direction it contains.
Good photos of God’s creation and inspirational content combine to make this book a beautiful and spiritually encouraging one.

One of my favorite ways of spending time with God is in nature. His existence is pretty undeniable there. Author and photographer Tracy Smoak uses photographs of serene water scenes as the foundation of her devotional that focuses on refreshing one’s soul through God’s living water. The photographs add a visual dimension that differentiates Living Water to Refresh Your Soul from other devotionals.
Ms. Smoak captured beautiful waterways in Florida from the Green Swamp to Lake Griffin. Each of the thirty photographs are accompanied by a Bible verse, a quick fact about the area pictured, a short prayer, and a short “faith step”. Each faith step is a brief encouragement for the reader to move forward in their relationship with God.
I read the ebook but I think the photos would be appreciated most in the physical book, although they are beautiful in any case. The hardcover book would be worthy of displaying at home, church, or office, or given as a gift.
Who would benefit from this book?
This book has a potentially wide audience. I see a good fit for anyone who likes devotionals, picture book/coffee table book fans, Florida residents, and nature enthusiasts. I also see this book as a fit for Christians who aren’t big readers, because the text is short and the photos are a big part of the experience.
How this book affected me
As a person who loves finding God in nature, I enjoyed and appreciated Living Water to Refresh Your Soul, and as a part-time Floridian, the photos made me feel like “home”. As a devotional reader, I would have enjoyed longer commentary and reflection.

There is a prayer and a “Faith Step” added with each of the 30 devotions that help one in their pilgrimage with their continued walk with God. Love, love, love this wonderful book.

I truly enjoyed reading Tracy’s devotional book. As a photographer, I also loved seeing the photos she chose to go with the scriptures. Each turn of the page will fill you with wonder as you look through her photos. Her prayers are thoughtful. I believe this would be a book that you could give to a person wanting to get to know Christ more. Tracy gives Faith Steps after each prayer. I highly recommend this book for your reading and as a delightful gift.
