“I can’t live like this, Jared. I have to find a way to move on. If I don’t, I might as well join you.”
It’s been a year since Maci Driscoll’s husband passed unexpectedly, and she is stuck in lonely despair. As an established painter, she finds her inspiration and artistic spark is gone. In a desperate attempt to step out of her funk, Maci sells her seaside home and moves inland to a sleepy little town in Maine.
But peace and inspiration aren’t the only things she finds in Laurel Hill. The century home she buys has secrets to divulge, a long-lost couple to reunite, a murder to solve, and maybe even new love.

What an absolute joy to read this book! It’s an easy read, the characters are well-defined, and there’s enough drama to keep your interest! There’s a little bit of everything: love, art, Maine, a murder, an old house, lost love, and also newfound love. Also, finding God, discovering a new purpose in life, making new friends in a new town, and learning to resume creating art, loving and trusting again!
I give this sweet book five stars! It was a perfect selection for our book club. Can’t wait to re-read and recommend Konnie K. Viner’s other novel, Amaryllis Journey, for book club in a few months.
