Louise Ann Gibson
Louise Ann Gibson never expected to become a runner at forty-seven—but God used the discipline of running to prepare her for a much greater race: navigating her daughter’s long battle with chronic mental illness while facing her own epilepsy diagnosis. Out of these experiences came The 12th Mile: When Hard Becomes Harder Still, a memoir-style resource that blends story, faith, and practical encouragement for weary parents, caregivers, and anyone enduring seasons that won’t let up.
Drawing from more than a decade of “boots on the ground” caregiving, Louise Ann writes with humor, honesty, and deep faith. Her work offers both empathy and new perspectives on resilience, perseverance, and God’s steadfast presence in suffering. A former math teacher, Louise Ann has also written and taught lessons for schools, churches, support groups, mission work, and military bases.
Passionate, relational, and committed, she believes that even “ordinary” families have extraordinary stories of God’s care to tell. Louise Ann lives in Michigan and delights in encouraging others to look up, trust God’s timing, and find hope in their own “12th mile.”
