Former Things Forgotten is beautifully written with exceptional character development. If you have spent any time in the Appalachian mountains, you can picture Tessa as a child, and her growth and experiences feel real to life.
The plot of Tessa’s life is reason enough to recommend this book, but the imagery of the thin line between the heavenly and earthly realm make this a must read. While centered in fiction, the imagery is thought provoking and provides an illustration of the unimaginable.
I had trouble putting this book down when I was reading it, and am still thinking about it a week later. This is a book that will stick with you.

Former Things Forgotten is a compelling story about a young women’s journey from rejection of God’s grace to acceptance of His offer for a personal relationship with Him. The characters are skillfully developed and relatable to people we all know. Of particular significance is the way in which God uses various characters and circumstances to bring Tessa to that moment of surrender when her life is forever changed and eternally secure. As a Christian experiencing the always challenging walk of sanctification, I found this book both entertaining and encouraging.
