Broken and Blessed: How God Set Me Free from Abuse, Dysfunctional Relationships, and Generational Sin

As you read the pages of this book, many times you will gasp. Many times you will cry. Many times you will rejoice . . . and hopefully, have more faith to believe God for the “impossible.”

 —Rev. Dr. Renee Hibma

Broken and Blessed is the remarkable story of Tracy Michaud, a strong, stubborn, and determined girl who, despite all earthly odds stacked against her, does not allow life-altering circumstances to change her smile or her destiny.

Young Tracy knows Jesus loves her, and she often sings “Jesus Loves Me,” as taught by her stepfather—who then goes on to abuse her. Later, as a teenager, Tracy drives the car that kills her stepfather and leaves her an amputee. Her mother refuses to engage in her rehabilitation, so Tracy vows to take care of herself. But filled with shame and feeling unworthy, Tracy leads a rebellious life marked by fear, depression, and hopelessness. But she knows that God sees everything, and she never gives up on seeking Him.

Mind-boggling and miraculous, this is a story of how God uses Tracy’s grit, courage, and faith to free her and her family from generational sin and oppression. His redeeming power, mercy, and grace in her life changes the course of eternity forever, one person at a time.

I’ve known Tracy as a friend for nearly 20 years, and although I knew of some of the tragedies and triumphs she’s faced in her remarkable life, I was awestruck by the depth of the heartbreak and pain she has endured throughout her life, beginning at a very young age and continuing into adulthood. Brought on by a combination of generational sin, poor choices and circumstances beyond her control, Tracy has come face to face with the forces of evil trying to destroy her life and the lives of those around her. Only through her perseverance and God’s grace did Tracy walk through the fire and come out the other side, stronger and more confident than ever, filled not with bitterness for what she’s been through, but with thankfulness for God’s presence through all the joy and all of the pain and setbacks.
Tracy not only changed the direction of her own life, but her faith and guidance has influenced many around her to seek God’s direction in their lives as well. From her own husband and children, to her husband’s parents and her own mother, Tracy has pointed friends and family members to a meaningful relationship with the Savior who had carried her through unimaginable pain and suffering and made her into the strong Proverbs 31 woman she is today.
Broken and Blessed is a testament to not only the human spirit, but also to the unwavering grace of God to those who seek His face.
Once you pick up Broken and Blessed, you won’t be able to put it down. It will, at the same time break your heart, and encourage you, horrify you and give you peace, shake your faith in the human condition and give you hope and confidence in God’s grace and the perseverance that is possible for those who put their trust in Him.
This book is truly an inspiration!

I just recently met Tracy and heard her testimony. After reading her book, Broken and Blessed, I have a greater appreciation for the grace and love of God who alone was able to lift her from the depths caused by sin to a radically transformed life in Christ. The horrors of abuse are difficult to read about but even worse to experience. Her story of redemption moves me to pray in earnest for people who are suffering and struggling. God has used Tracy and will use her book to bring healing and strength to others.

Broken and Blessed draws you directly into the Authors life. Tracy has suffered and triumphed in so many ways. This book will keep your mind racing, your emotions on fire, and your heart broken and rejoicing all at once. Whether you have suffered from childhood abuse, trauma, or had the best up bringing…you must read this story or pain, perseverance and God’s unwavering love.
