Description
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to actually experience the hardships, trauma, excitement, tragedy, or daily adventure of a military enlisted man midst all-out warfare? The author Clayton F. Rasmussen, youngest son of a Baptist minister, optimistically takes the reader along on his personal experiences. By use of short story accounts, woven together chronologically with daily military operations, or adventurous activities, he explains the synergism of the Navy Seabee Battalion. The military campaign period of the 110th NCB is covered in this manner. Interspersed in the war activities of invasions, bombings, and strafing, were his special work projects, and thrills of exciting and unique adventures. These included exploring beautiful underwater coral gardens, being marooned on a tropical island, and even the courtship spawned by letter writing which led to his lovely Christian wife. And to expand his spiritual faith, the Navy “mistakenly” assigned him a tour on an Aircraft Carrier at war’s end, to disclose a secret that only God could reveal. Events never before disclosed by a participant are revealed, as their secrecy is now uncensored, and declassified, including the first nuclear events, and theAuthor’s participation. Historically accurate accounts provide the reader emotions closely resembling the personal feeling of fear, suspense, and adrenaline rush of the participant. His was the Christian’s adventure of living fully every day, confident of God’s Almighty safekeeping.
