Welcome to the very first Author Growth Lab tip!

Welcome to the very first Author Growth Lab tip!

It’s Monday… and today we’re beginning something brand new.

If you’ve been with us over the past year, you know the heartbeat behind these emails.

Each week, we shared one simple, actionable marketing tip—not to overwhelm you, but to help you take a meaningful step forward with your book.

And that’s not changing.

As we step into The Author Growth Lab, our goal remains the same: One simple step each week.

The difference is, we’re expanding the focus to support you in every part of the author journey—from writing and message clarity to reader connection and yes… continuing to market your book in meaningful ways.

So, let’s begin with something simple, something we’ve covered before—but worth covering again because it’s just that important.

If someone asked you today … “What is your book about?”

Would your answer feel clear… or a little scattered?

You’re not alone if it’s the second.

Many authors carry a powerful message but struggle to express it in a way that’s easy for others to understand.

And when the message feels unclear … it becomes harder for readers to recognize that the book is for them.

This Week’s Author Growth Tip

Write one sentence that describes the transformation your book offers.

Not the topic. Not the chapters. The transformation.

In other words, what changes in your reader’s life because of your book?

What to Do This Week

Keep this simple.

Set a timer for 10 minutes and write a sentence that begins like this: My book helps _________________ to ________________ so they can _______________.

For example: “My book helps women who feel overwhelmed rediscover peace so they can walk closely with God again.”

Don’t overthink it. Just get it on paper.

Why This Matters

Clarity builds connection.

When your message is clear, your reader can quickly recognize: “This is for me!”

And that’s what opens the door.

One Small Step

You don’t need a perfect sentence this week. You just need a starting point.

Just one simple step. Done faithfully, it makes a difference.

Hit reply and send us your one sentence. We’d truly love to read it.

Cheering you on,
Shelly, Athena & Carol

P.S. If you’re reading this and thinking, “I don’t just need ideas—I need help actually putting this into practice,” that’s exactly why we created Book Marketing Pro Academy.

Inside BMA, we walk with authors step-by-step—helping you apply what you’re learning, stay consistent, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
