Turn a 3-Star Review Into a Powerful Post

This Week’s Tip: Turn a 3-Star Review Into a Powerful Post

Let’s be honest. We all want 5-star reviews. But what happens when someone leaves a 3-star (or even 2-star) review?

Most authors feel a little deflated… or hope no one notices.

But here’s the truth: even your less-than-perfect reviews can become a powerful marketing tool.

When handled with grace, humility, and confidence, a 3-star review can actually make your message more compelling.

📌 Here’s What to Do This Week:

1. Find one of your neutral or critical Amazon reviews. Look for a comment that wasn’t harsh, but reflected that this book wasn’t quite what they expected.

2. Pull a key quote and turn it into a post.
For example: "Not quite what I was hoping for — this book was more raw and personal than I expected."

Now post something like: "Not everyone will connect with my story—and that’s okay. My prayer was never to please everyone, but to speak honestly to those who need to know they aren’t alone."

3. Add a simple call to action: "If you’re in a season where you need raw honesty and real hope, this book may be for you."

📌 Why This Works:

  • It builds trust through authenticity. You’re not pretending every reader will love your book, and that honesty makes others lean in.

  • It creates curiosity. When people see that your book stirred something, even for those unsure, it makes them want to read it for themselves.

  •  It reframes criticism into an opportunity (or ministry). Not everyone is your audience. And that’s okay. Your job is to reach the ones who are.

So this week, don’t hide that 3-star review. REDEEM IT! You might be surprised who God draws to your message as a result.

If you try this, hit reply. We’d love to see how you turn it into a post!

Until next week, keep stewarding your message with boldness and grace.

Cheering you on—always!
