One of the best ways to sell more books is to get your happy readers to do the talking for you!
If someone has read and loved your book, chances are they already know exactly who else needs it—they just need a little nudge (and a reason) to share. That’s where a simple referral challenge comes in.
???? What to Do This Week:
1. Reach out to past readers and supporters.
Email, text, or post on social. Invite them into a fun, low-pressure challenge:
Sample Message:
“If you’ve been encouraged by [Book Title], I’d love for you to tell three friends about it this week! As a thank-you, I’ll send you a beautifully designed free [digital gift], and as an added "thank you," you’ll be entered into a drawing for a [signed book bundle (or other special gift)] and a $20 Amazon gift card.
Just reply to this email and let me know you’ve shared the book with at least three people, and I’ll quickly send your [digital gift] and enter you into the drawing, which will take place on [insert date]!”
(NOTE: you don't have to do the added "Thank You" drawing but it's a great way to sweeten the challenge. )
2. Choose a simple but valuable gift, such as …
- A PDF study guide, prayer journal, or devotional.
- A beautiful, themed 3- or 5-day devotional.
- A set of scriptures or most quotable quotes from the book designed as printable cards.
3. Make it easy for them to share.
Provide a short description of the book, a link to buy it, and maybe a graphic they can forward or post. The easier it is to talk about, the more likely they will!

People listen when a reader shares from experience—it’s heartfelt, not hype.
- It creates a natural ripple effect that often reaches people you never could have reached on your own.
