Stephen Van Zant has a degree in American Literature from the University of Kentucky and earned a law degree from the University of Louisville, becoming the fourteenth attorney in his family. In 2011 he published the coming-of-age novel, Far From Good: The Trial of the Sam Cray. He is married and has four children.
