About The Book

Home is where the heart is . . . but what if your heart needs Jesus? In this sprightly and spirited picture book sprinkled with scripture, children will join Jesus in all sorts of mighty machines as he rescues, protects, and helps them build a brand new heart-home full of peace and joy. And amid the constructive teamwork, they’ll see how asking Jesus to “take the driver’s seat” can keep them safe with him forever.

Author Rachael A. McCloskey says, “This book merges a child’s love for machines along with learning who Jesus is and what He can do for their heart in both a practical and playful way. They will discover that Jesus is their best friend, and their faith will be expanded by learning that He heals, delivers, provides for us a foundation, and so much more.”

Quotes from... Jesus in the Driver’s Seat

Meet my best friend Jesus, who/I asked to change my heart.

My prayer dispatched my urgent need./ “Please help!” I radioed.

Now He’s in the driver’s seat./ He’s got the keys—let’s start!

Smoke is filling up the air./ Old sins are set aflame!/

His firetruck can put them out./ “Extinguished!” He exclaims.

But Jesus says, “It’s time to build/A home full of shalom!”

Inside His ambulance, He adds, / “But first, I’ll heal your heart!”

With His excavator truck, /We’ll dig in my heart’s ground.

We harvest with His big combine / to make our daily bread.

Let Jesus take the driver’s seat / of your heart too— just ask!
