Ann Gaylia O'Barr

Ann Gaylia O’Barr was a Foreign Service Officer with the United States Department of State from 1990 to 2004. Her assignments included tours in U.S. embassies and consulates in Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Canada, Tunisia, and in Washington, D.C. She managed to be in Saudi Arabia for two Gulf wars: 1990-91(Desert Storm) and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Previous writing before entering the Foreign Service included curriculum writing for several Southern Baptist periodicals. Since leaving the Foreign Service, Ann published five novels with Oak Tara, including Tender Shadows (2014). Other writing has included articles in State Department Magazine, Liberty Magazine, and on the website American Diplomacy.
