What is your book about?
Now that you’ve spent time clarifying your message and reconnecting with why it matters… (refer to last week's Tip)
Let’s make it easier to talk about.
Because sooner or later, someone will ask: “What is your book about?”
And in that moment, clarity matters.
This Week’s Author Growth Tip
Write your 30-second answer to that question. Even if you've done this before, revisit it.
Not a full explanation. Not every detail. Just a clear, natural response.
What to Do This Week
Keep this simple.
Write 2–3 sentences that answer: “What is your book about?”
You can build from your previous work: “My book helps __________ to __________ so they can __________.”
Then add one sentence that gives a little more context.
Example: My book helps women who feel overwhelmed find peace in their daily lives so they can walk more closely with God. It’s about learning how to slow down, trust Him, and experience His presence even in the middle of busy, demanding seasons.
Why This Matters
When connection comes first…
Your book becomes a natural next step, not a forced one.
When your answer is clear and simple…
People lean in and ask questions. They stay engaged and remember what you said.
One Small Step
You don’t need the perfect words. You just need something you can say with clarity and confidence.
Just one simple step. Done faithfully, it makes a difference.
Comment below and share your 30-second answer—we’d love to hear it.
Cheering you on,
Shelly, Athena & Carol
