Don’t Sell the Book. Share What the Book Does.
This Week’s Tip: Don’t Sell the Book. Share What the Book Does.
This might be one of the most freeing tips we’ve shared yet!
Stop trying to convince people to buy your book. Instead, start showing them what your book can do in their life.
When someone reads your post, they’re not really asking, “What’s your book about?” They’re wondering, “Why should I care?”
Here's the shift...
Instead of this:
“My book is available now!”
“Order your copy on Amazon!”
Try this:
“I wrote this for the nights when your grief doesn’t let you breathe. And for the mornings when you’re finally ready to believe again.”
See the difference?
That one sentence doesn’t promote—it connects. It names the reader’s pain and offers a glimpse of what your book can walk them through. And that’s what moves people to action!
Here’s a couple more examples:
For a book about identity or worth:
“I wrote this for the woman who’s tired of feeling like she’s never enough—so she can finally see herself the way God does.”
For a book about healing after betrayal or trauma:
“This is for the ones who trusted deeply, broke quietly, and are still wondering if God can put the pieces back together.”
📌 Here’s What to Do This Week:
Write one sentence that answers this question: What do I want my book to do in someone’s life?
Then post it on social media, share it in your newsletter, or include it in a conversation. Let your message be the marketing.
📌 Why This Works:
-
It speaks to the heart, not just the head.
-
It creates emotional connection—not sales pressure.
- When people feel seen, they’re more likely to engage, share… and yes, buy.
Try this today!
Comment below and share your one sentence with us—we’d love to see it.
Cheering you on—always!

P.S. We recently gave our Book Marketing Pro Academy (BMA) members an 80-prompt swipe sheet filled with one-sentence post ideas (like the examples above) organized by theme to help them connect with their readers and communicate their message without ever feeling “salesy.” And that’s just one of the countless resources and tools waiting for you inside.
So ... if you’re ready to kick things up a few notches and get your message into the hands of the readers who need it most, don’t try to figure it out alone. Inside BMA, we walk alongside Christian authors every week with real training, real support, and real community—at a price that’s over-the-top generous for what’s included.
If you’ve found these weekly tips helpful, BMA is where it all comes to life. Come see how much farther you can go when you’re not doing it on your own.
