Christina’s hope is that each reader will find someone who is different from them and spend time reading it together, engaging in authentic conversation which will prayerfully lead to understanding and healing.

Have you struggled to recognize where you fall in the conversation on race relations? Have you recently become aware of things you never knew before, and you’re struggling to reconcile them with all you’ve ever known? Do you harbor feelings of prejudice you have failed to recognize or acknowledge?

After seeing the brutal killing of George Floyd and dealing with the aftermath of that event, Christina found herself asking these questions. The weeks following Floyd’s killing were the most emotionally exhausting of her life. Each day she spent many hours working through emotions in conversations virtually, through social media, or on the phone. As she learned about the history of our country, she also dove into her own, grappling with thoughts and feelings that had been unaddressed for too long. She became aware of the need for people to discuss these difficult topics. Any good therapist says that to heal, one must address what has caused the pain.

This book is designed to promote unity and healing through conversation.
