Description

All books published by Redemption Press will be evaluated through content coaching.

Editor evaluates the completed manuscript with a “ten-foot overview” as opposed to a line by line read and annotation, paying careful attention to ensure that all expected elements of a given genre have been presented in the book. Comments are made in the margins of and in the body of the manuscript itself, using track changes, so the author can see the concerns raised (and strengths mentioned!) on the page.

An encouraging short summary letter is sent to the author as well, outlining the coach’s findings. Language pitched at the right level? Do terms need explaining? Is work too long/short? A discussion of all issues raised, and solution strategies, will be offered in a coaching call or Skype meeting following the return of the manuscript – the author makes changes without editor participating in the writing, as differentiated from the Cooperative Rewrite.  The editor is free to use his or her experience as a guide in pointing out strengths and weaknesses, but elements common to a genre should be included (for example, historical details in a historical novel, age-appropriate dialogue in a YA novel). All books will be reviewed for common essentials (see lists).

The content coach will offer a sample 3-5page line edit on the manuscript before returning it to the author, strongly suggesting that a line edit would be something to consider adding to his or her package to have tighter, more focused, more readable book. If the author agrees, the book is line edited after revisions. If the author chooses to bypass a line edit, it will move to copy edit after revisions.

Meet the Publisher

I've been around Christian publishing since 1987 when I helped our ministry self-publish an important resource for Vietnam veterans and their families. That book went on to be picked up by a royalty publisher and has since sold over 250,000 copies with a million in print.

I'm glad you're here…stop by often and take advantage of all the information we make available.
